I just bought a new toy , the AppleTV. I’ve been needing a way to organize all of my video / music / pictures for a long time and I am too lazy to put it on my PS3. Here’s where AppleTV comes to play. Small little box , alot of joy. With AppleTV you can install Boxee into it and watch your favorite movies from there and also watch online videos such as Hulu.com

Here are some instructions on installing Boxee on your AppleTV
- Download the lastest version of USB Creator (Patchstick) . It’s a USB Flash drive creator for the AppleTV . It basically creates a USB flash drive based installer that includes patchstick, factory restore and various Linux.
- Plug the USB into your AppleTV and reboot it ( I just unplug the power cord )
- You’ll see this logo below as it’s being updated.

- Unplug your USB once the installation is complete and reboot your AppleTV
- Once you reboot you will see a new option in the AppleTV menu called XMBC/BOXEE. Click that
- Click on Install Boxee
- Update the Launcher ( The launcher launches your applications , in this case Boxee )
- Launch Boxee and login using your Boxee username and password. Register an account at Bloxee .
That’s it you are done. You will need to update the Launcher to let Boxee load. You can now start playing MKV’s , last.fm , Hulu. Although Boxee supports Netflix it currently doesnt support it on Linux yet. Damn Microsoft SilverLight.
There instructions are taken from Boxee Blog . I’ve just modified a bit so it’s clearer.
